Summer 2010 @ Highland Lakes Camp |
Written by Jeremy Hellums (who typically doesn't write in 3rd person, but thought it'd be fun), is a follower of Christ, married to Kari Hellums on March 10, 2007, and is Daddy to Landon, 2 years old and Logan, 1 year old. Jeremy grew up in Bastrop county, living in Cedar Creek most of his life, but attended high school in nearby Bastrop. He spent most of his time growing up with his family in Cedar Creek and Bastrop. At the age of 16, he experienced his parents divorce and took it rather hard. He finished out his sophomore year and found himself at Highland Lakes Camp helping a local sound production crew with summer camp; this is where he met Jesus Christ late one evening after worship.
After the life changing experience, Jeremy surrendered his life to the ministry and served at The Well, and most recently at Highland Lakes Camp as Production and Assistant Director of Guest Services for three years.
From May 15, 2012 to February 28, 2014, Jeremy has been served as the Minister to Families at First Baptist Church in Bremond, TX. His wife Kari taught 3rd grade for two years at Bremond Elementary. Following the leading the Holy Spirit, Jeremy accepted a full time Student Minister position at Cedar Valley Baptist Church in between Bastrop and Elgin, Texas.
Jeremy and the family currently in the process of moving their home to the Bastrop area. They look forward to serving the community and its church family of Cedar Valley Baptist Church.
In 2005, he met his beautiful bride, Kari, at Highland Lakes Camp, who was serving on the Summer Missions Team. The two fell in love quickly and knew that it would be a matter of time before they were married. On March 10, 2007, that is exactly what happened. "It was a hilarious and beautiful wedding, I'll never forget it," Jeremy recalls.
About two years later, 2009, Jeremy and Kari had their first child, Landon. Later in the year, about November, they were surprised to learn that they would be having their second child in 2010, Logan. Jeremy and Kari enjoy spending their time chasing the two boys in and around the house (not on top of the house, yet), but have been richly blessed by having these two precious gifts.
Prayers are coveted by Jeremy, Kari, Landon and Logan as they continue to press on the journey the Lord has laid before them.
